The basic agreement includes:

• Staying current on breastfeeding information relevant to their work as LLL Leaders.
• Keeping confidential the personal and medical information of the mothers and children with whom they work.
• Not imposing personal viewpoints on the mothers with whom they work, instead providing them with information and options so that the mothers can make decisions concerning their children and their lives for themselves.
• Helping maintain the public perception that the primary role of an LLL Leader is to provide mothers information and options on matters relating to breastfeeding, especially when participating in cooperative action with other organizations.
• Not speaking on behalf of LLLI or Heartland except on matters on which consensus has been reached by that body, or unless otherwise duly authorized.
• Communicating with each other about their activities as LLL Leaders.
• Ensuring that their activities as LLL Leaders are consistent with the LLLI Philosophy.
• Finding ways to demonstrate to each other that they are keeping these agreements.

Leaders also agree:

• Protect and use the LLLI logo and name in accordance with LLLI policies for accredited Leaders and Areas.
• B. Recognize LLLI as the sole source for accreditation of LLL Leaders, and that such accreditation is valid worldwide.
